How did you become involved with the CFK Foundation?
Conleth and I have worked together over the last couple of years and he asked me to join the mentorship committee. It has been awesome working and learning with the students over the last year and a half as they navigate college and begin to prepare for their internship and job search!
What is it that motivates you to give back to your community?
I am so grateful to have mentors and leaders who helped me throughout my career by giving advice and honest feedback, connecting me to their network/community, and creating an opportunity for me to learn and grow while continuing to advance in my career. I have worked in roles that I never thought that I would because of them!
I want to be able to do the same in my community through mentorship and networking!
What challenges do you see for our future generations?
The pace of change continues to get faster and faster. It is going to require future generations to be more adaptable and discover how to learn new skills quickly. With all the advancements in technology, I also believe there is going to be a delicate balance of utilizing technology while maintaining the human side of business through empathy, compassion, and putting the customer first.
What brings you gratitude in life?
I am super grateful for my friends and family! They keep me grounded and are the most important thing to me. I am also grateful for the ability to learn and try new things at work, it is super motivating for me.
How do you define success?
I am highly motivated by goals and results, probably to level that drives my team crazy! I believe that success comes through consistent and dedicated effort, keeping the main thing the main thing, and leveraging a diverse skillset within your team. There is so much that you can learn and improve upon through that consistent focus that it makes achieving those goals and results even better!
What does “community” mean to you?
Community is everything as you are who you surround yourself with! For me, community is a group of people who have each other’s backs, learn from one another, and celebrate the highs and lows of life. With the world becoming more virtual, community is more important than ever to drive a sense of belonging and unity outside of just a similar physical location.
Who inspires you?
My mom. She is kind, hardworking, and selfless. She has taught me how important it is show up for those that I care about on a daily basis, even when life get busy!
How do you prepare yourself to overcome hurdles professionally & personally?
The times that I have learned and developed the most is when things haven’t gone according to plan. These situations have required me to think outside of the box, work with different team members, and challenge how I lead. I don’t believe that you can prepare and/or predict every hurdle but I do believe that you can always have grit, adaptability, curiosity, and clarity on the long-term vision in order to address any hurdle.
What does the next 5 years for the CFK Foundation look like?
In 5 years, I hope that we are able to support more students and provide tailored mentorship, networking and development based on their goals post-college and daily needs. I also hope that past CFK students that have graduated will become mentors to new students, continuing to grow the program.
