The CFKF and Horizon's at Harley Team Up
The Foundation has been in partnership with Horizon's at Harley since 2021 to support their Summer Programs.
Established in 1995, The Horizons Student Enrichment Program at The Harley School is a summer learning program with support throughout the school year for students from low-income families enrolled in the Rochester City School District. Horizons is committed to the development of the whole child through focused reading, writing, and mathematics instruction; project-based learning; and enrichment opportunities. A six-week summer academic and enrichment program forms the core of Horizons. Students attend for nine years, from Kindergarten through 8th grade. The hands-on, project-based curriculum, supplemented by reading specialists, a librarian, and student volunteers from The Harley School, has proven to counteract the negative effects of summer learning loss. On top of all the learning, there is room for some fun, as all students are taught how to swim, an important life skill that builds confidence and a habit of physical fitness. The Foundation's support will assist with transportation and the costs of the annual capstone field trip for this year's "graduating" eighth graders.
We are proud to be able to help fulfill the constant that these students look so forward to while enhancing the longevity of the program!
