How did you become involved with the CFK Foundation?

Conversations with Richard and Con.

What is it that motivates you to give back to your community?

Seeing the results of small incremental improvements over time.  Change happens over time not overnight, and consistently giving back to the community is what changes that community.

What challenges do you see for our future generations?

A lack of personal drive and social skills in a social media-based environment

What brings you gratitude in life?

My wife, children, family, and friends.  I am very thankful for Freedom.  Lastly, I love having a laugh!

How do you define success?

Having a positive impact on others.  This can be done through direct or indirect involvement.  People are always paying attention to your actions.

Why is it important to you to give back?

This is what drives success

What does “community” mean to you?

Community means everything.  I would define a “Community” as anywhere you have social connections.  Being a positive influence in any of your “communities” is the best way to effect change in it for the positive.

Who inspires you?

My wife Bridget Roorda. Raising children on a daily basis is much more difficult and important than anything I deal with.

How do you prepare yourself to overcome hurdles professionally & personally?

Completing extremely difficult physical and mental tasks such as Ironman seem to make professional problems seem much easier.  I enjoy doing what some might define as extremely difficult not always for the fun, but to prove time and time again that I can.  I enjoy doing most things in excess!

If you had all the money in the world, what would you do with it?

Make the lives of the people around me less difficult.  Provide a mechanism for success and growth to those less fortunate in life than I.

What does the next 5 years for the CFK Foundation look like?

Increasing the impact on the local community not only quantitatively but qualitatively.  Also expanding into more “local” markets where we have a foot print.
